Cons: Multi-coin wallet rather than a Monero-only client

Best for: Android users who point a wallet at their own node
Pros: Full-featured, connects to your own node, listed by the Monero project as a locally synchronising wallet[1]
Cons: Android only, and maintenance has stalled. The most recent release is v4.1.7 from 17 June 2025, and the repository has had no pushes since that date[3]

Best for: Advanced users, minimal resource usage
Pros: Fast sync, built-in Tor, advanced features
Cons: Less user-friendly interface
Seed format: Feather issues 16-word Polyseed backups[4], while the official Monero wallet issues 25 words[5]. The two formats are not interchangeable

Best for: Holding Monero next to other coins without a custodian
Pros: Open source, and listed by the Monero project among the locally synchronising wallets[1]

Best for: Long-term storage, keys held off the computer
Pros: Offline key storage, tamper-resistant
Supported devices: Ledger Nano S (firmware 2.1.0 or later), Nano S Plus (1.0.3 or later) and Nano X (2.0.2 or later); Trezor Model T, Safe 3 and Safe 5 (firmware 2.5.2 or later)[1]
Cons: Cost, and only some wallets can drive the device. Ledger works with Monero GUI, Monero CLI, Cake Wallet, Feather and Monerujo. Trezor works with Monero GUI, Monero CLI and Feather[1]
π Trading client: Haveno
What it is: Not a general-purpose wallet. Haveno is an open source platform for exchanging Monero against fiat currencies or other coins, peer to peer, non-custodial, with communications routed through Tor[7]
The catch: The official repository does not support real trades on its own. Trading for real means finding a third-party network and using that network's installer or build[7]
Current release: v1.8.0, 20 June 2026[8]
Step 2: Download and Verify
Always verify your wallet download to prevent malicious software:

- Scan with antivirus (though false positives are common due to mining code)

It publishes one clearsigned hashes.txt, so you verify the signature on that file and then match your download's SHA256 against the entry inside it[9]. Expect "Good signature" together with a warning that the key is not certified: that warning is normal and only means you have not personally signed the key. "BAD signature" means stop. The key fingerprint should read 81AC 591F E9C4 B65C 5806 AFC3 F0AF 4D46 2A0B DF92, verified current on 2026-08-05.

CPU Mining: Monero's RandomX algorithm is designed for general-purpose CPUs, so ordinary computers can mine it

- Slow Sync: There is no Monero "bootstrap file". What exists is a bootstrap node: while your local daemon is still catching up, it proxies the wallet's RPC requests to another node so the wallet stays usable, and the Monero project warns that the replies from that node may be untrustworthy[14]. The daemon option is
